Born in Hondarribia, from a young age Iker Karrera began receiving jazz and hip hop classes. At age 18, he moved to Madrid where, in addition to a degree in Audiovisual Communication from UC3M, he began traveling to complete his hip hop training as well as training in classical ballet and contemporary dance.
As a dancer, he has worked in Paris for Céline Dion, X Factor France and in various shows and clips of French artists. In Spain, among other projects, he has danced in the latest production of the New Spanish Ballet, “Titanium”, a show with which they traveled all over the world.
As a choreographer, his piece “# 7fm” has been awarded nationally and internationally, obtaining various awards and a warm recognition from the public. “# 7fm” has been represented in capitals such as Paris, London or New York as well as in numerous national dance festivals.
His latest long production, “LasOtrasPiezas”, directed and choreographed with Fernando Lázaro, has been scheduled in Madrid up to three times, with great reception by critics and audiences.
Iker has also choreographed various music clips such as “Fuerte” by Lola Indigo under the direction of Iñigo Jiménez or “Un Jardín” de Delaporte among others, in addition to different spots and advertising.
As a teacher as well as throughout Spain, he has taught in Los Angeles, New York, Mexico, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Ukraine, Russia and the Czech Republic. In Spain, he has worked in renowned schools in Madrid and has been a visiting professor at the Superior Conservatory of Dance María de Ávila and at the Professional Conservatory of Dance Fortea in Madrid.
He currently directs his own school and artistic project, Danza180º and is director and choreographer of the television program “Fama, ¡a bailar!” aired on #0 of Movistar +.
